St Kilda vs Geelong Betting Tips

Marvel Stadium, Saturday, May 14, 4:35 PM (AEST)

St Kilda

Injuries: Jack Bytel, Nick Coffield, Dan Hannebery, Jack Hayes (Out) Hunter Clark, Jack Billings, Rowan Marshall, Dan Butler (Test)

Dan Butler is coping with an Achilles tendon injury he suffered this weekend’s loss to the Demons, but the Saints could get protagonists Jack Billings and Hunter Clark back from injury. View our full AFL Injury List on the way to round 9.

The Saints were rolling after six laps, winning five at a trot and climbing as high as 4th on the ladder. Since then they have lost their last two games to Port Adelaide and Melbourne and face another tough test against Geelong this week.

The conditions in Cairns probably cost them the win against Port Adelaide, and no one can blame them for going to the best side in the competition in Melbourne. I think this weekend against Geelong will be the first real test to see where the Saints are and if they are a real top eight team.

Injuries: Jon Ceglar (Out) Toby Conway, Jack Henry, Max Holmes, Sam Menegola, Quinton Narkle, Gary Rohan, Sam Simpson (TB) Rhys Stanley (Test)

The Cats injury list is quite long, but it doesn’t feature many players critical to their success. Sam Menegola, Gary Rohan and Rhys Stanley are the few notable names, but they could all return in the coming weeks.

Geelong dominated the Giants over the weekend to move to 5-3 in the season and is currently in 5th place. Jeremy Cameron’s fine form continued in the win, scoring five goals to make the season 24, finishing 3rd on the Coleman Medal standings.

Match Prediction

The Cats start as light favorites for the clash and rightly so given their strong performance last week. They have a stellar record against the Saints, winning their last six games in a row by an average margin of 34.3 points.

The Saints’ last win against the Cats came all the way back in 2016 when they won by three points at Marvel Stadium. I think the Cats will extend that winning streak to six games here, but I expect it to be a pretty close affair. The Saints have finished just one of their eight games this season by a margin of more than 39 points.

Prop Bets

Jack Steele and Brad Crouch have been in very solid accumulating form so far this season. Together they have played 16 games this season and have failed to reach 25 goals a total of 3 times. $1.95 is a great opportunity for the couple to do this again.

Steele & Crouch 25+ Divestments ($1.95 at PlayUp)

Jade Gresham has been scoring regularly on the scoreboard this season. He scored nine goals in eight games, but added eight more at the back. $2.10 for someone who averages 2.1 shots per game is a good price.

Jade Gresham 1+ Goal ($2.10 on correct bet)
