Former Australian Test cricketer Andrew Symonds was murdered in a Queensland car accident, MONKEY reports.

The 46-year-old was involved in a single-vehicle accident late Saturday.

Queensland Law enforcement investigate the crash, which took place on Hervey Rangeabout 50 km from Townsville†

β€œEarly information indicates that the car was driven shortly after 11 p.m.” Hervey Range Roadnear Alice River Bridge when it left the lane and rolled,” the police said in a statement.

“Emergency services attempted to resuscitate the 46-year-old driver and sole occupant, but he died of his injuries.”

Playing 26 Tests for Australia, Symonds was a crowd favorite in the short game as a big hit all-rounder.

In recent years, Symonds had worked as a TV commentator for Fox Sports and was regularly in the microphone for Big Bash League broadcasts.

Former Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds dies aged 46

Australian cricket legend Andrew Symonds died in a car accident.

The 46-year-old played 26 Tests for Australia, as well as 198 one-day internationals and 14 Twenty20 internationals.

In mid-2008, Symonds was retired from playing over disciplinary issues and announced his retirement from the sport in February 2012.
