1. Floss regularly

2. Choose the right toothbrush
There are two things to do when picking up a toothbrush: choose a soft-bristled toothbrush and replace it often.
First, you should use the soft bristles as your teeth are delicate. Going hard when brushing with a hard-bristled toothbrush will do more harm than good. You should be soft and delicate – and your toothbrush should be the same.
Second, regular replacements are a must. Your toothbrush wears out because you use it two or three times a day. A good rule of thumb is to change your toothbrush as the seasons change.
3. Be careful when brushing
Brushing your teeth seems like a simple matter – and it is if you know what you’re doing. Many people don’t know about it. They grab their toothbrush and go to town. That’s not what you want to do!
First, you have to be gentle. Second, you should brush one tooth at a time. Third, you should spend at least two minutes on it. And don’t forget to brush the front and back of your teeth!
A common sign of poor brushing technique is bleeding gums. Be sure to talk to your dentist if that sounds like something happening to you.
4. Wear a night watchman
We live stressful times. Everyone goes 100 miles an hour — and has trouble falling asleep when it’s bedtime. Sometimes we take that daily stress into the night. That’s how you keep grinding your teeth until morning – even if you don’t realize it!

Your teeth can take a beating while you sleep, but that’s not the only place that can happen. Accidents happen in every sport you can think of. Then wearing a mouthguard can prevent something terrible from happening!
It’s not like you have to box to wear a mouthguard. If you box, be sure to wear one. Any contact sport requires you to wear one – but you can do the same while doing other fun activities like soccer, basketball, and more.
Gymnasts also wear mouth guards if they want to be careful. So it’s not about other people hitting you alone!
6. Drink more water – and less sugar
Sugar is the tooth killer. Everyone knows that! And that might be why people drink less soft drinks every year† We still have a long way to go – and you can do your part too. Drink more water and try cutting out soda altogether if you want to have the perfect smile.
Building a case in favor of drinking water is not difficult. There are no downsides to it!
On the other hand, soda will only cause you problems. You don’t need to be a dentist to know that a lot of sugar will create enough cavities to cause you discomfort.
7. Watch what you chew
There are one too many terrible ideas when it comes to using your teeth. For example, using your mouth to open a package. Chewing on ice is also terrible. Some people even use their teeth to remove corks from bottles!
Any of those things can end in disaster. You crack your tooth at best and lose it at worst. Teeth are incredibly durable – but you shouldn’t try your luck doing such things.
Also watch your food. Avoid forcing your way through food. If something is way too hard for you, drop it.
8. Replace missing teeth as soon as possible
So you’re in a worst-case scenario. You lost a tooth doing something that doesn’t matter now. It’s not the end of the world – but you have to pretend it is. Try to replace it as soon as possible.

9. Quickly schedule your next dental appointment
There are very few people in this world who enjoy going to the dentist. It’s something you have to do whether you like it or not – if you want a perfect smile.
Going to the dentist twice a year can prevent major problems. It is only a 30 minute ordeal that prevents lifelong problems.
