Coca-Cola introduces a new ‘Mello’ flavour

A collaboration between Coca-Cola and EDM DJ Marshmello is bringing a limited edition Marshmello/Coke-flavored soft drink that will hit U.S. shelves soon, the companies announced on Wednesday.

The new cola flavor is watermelon-strawberry flavored and is part of the company’s “Coca-Cola Creations” licorice. It is now the third product to be offered under the drop along with “Starlight” and “Byte”. Marshmello is also the first artist to ever create a drink with Coca-Cola.

“For our third Coca-Cola Creations drop, we wanted to add an unexpected remix of flavors to a great Coca-Cola flavor,” said Oana Vlad, senior director of global strategy at the company, in a press release.

The Starlight flavor is actually described as marshmallow-esque. It is said to be “reminiscent of stargazing around a campfire” [with] a cooling sensation that evokes the feeling of a cold journey into space.” According to Coca-Cola Creations, the Byte flavor would “bring the taste of pixels to life.”

Marshmello described the flavor in a statement as: “We’ve created a vibey mix of my favorite flavors in this all-new mix. I think it tastes great and I hope fans love it too.”

“It was great to work with Coca-Cola on this limited-edition licorice,” Marshmello added.

The Marshmello and Coke flavor will be available for a limited time starting July 11. The flavor is also made without sugar.

Coca-Cola competitor Pepsi has also recently released new flavors instead of just the original Coke flavor. In February, Pepsi announced a new nitrogen-infused cola drink “Nitro-Pepsi”.
