ECEC employee in Canberra charged with child abuse

A 28-year-old early childhood education and care professional (ECEC) has been charged with indecent assault after allegations involving three children in his care.

Police received reports in May 2022 from two parents of alleged indecent assaults committed against their children while attending a day care center in Canberra.

After an investigation by the Sexual Violence and Child Abuse team of ACT Policing, a 28-year-old Scullin man was arrested on Sunday, May 29, 2022.

After his arrest, the man was charged with two counts of indecency against a child under the age of 10 and one count of common assault. His employment at the daycare had recently ended.
