Get ready for the ultimate Christmas market in Canberra on the lake

Some festive fun is coming to the lakeside: The Little Burley Market celebrates festive season every Saturday in December.

Forget the chaos of Christmas stuck in a shopping mall, this year Canberra’s very own bespoke lakeside market makes for a festive shopping experience. And with the chance to snap photos with Santa, a relaxing drink and picnic while listening to Christmas tunes, and shop for the perfect gift from local Canberra makers, we’ll be there with (jingle) bells on.

Little Burley Market takes place every Saturday in December through Christmas Eve and is home to 60 stalls packed with one-of-a-kind items that will brighten up a loved one’s Christmas (think beautiful flowers, locally made art, fashion, photography and home goods, artisan breads, delectable pastries, seafood, smoked charcuterie, truffles, cured meats, puppy treats and much more). There are plenty of opportunities to find the perfect gifts and enjoy the holiday season (and if you forget something, you can go back next weekend and do it all over again!).

Local Village Markets Creative Manager Alexa Ashton said: “Why fight the crowds in a shopping center when you can support local businesses and enjoy one of the most beautiful spots in Canberra at the same time? Not only that, if you have had lunch and done your shopping, you can go to The Jetty Beer Garden for a drink!”

Grab yourself a treat (hello gluten-free eclairs) and share in the joy of pouring season on the banks of the Burley. See you there!
