Lightning flashes across the sky in Southeast Mississippi

Lightning flashed across the sky in Laurel, Mississippi, on Tuesday, Aug. 16, when the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a special weather statement in the region. Images and images posted to Twitter by user @chaser_jensen show the lightning storm. Wesley Williams, a local meteorologist, said thunderstorms in the area would be capable of heavy rain, frequent lightning and strong gusts of wind.
