Live Stream, Schedule, Lineup – Deadline

Television content is booming. According to Nielsen’s most recent State of Play report, more than three-quarters of a million TV shows can now be watched on streaming and traditional television platforms between February 2021 and February 2022. That makes the feat of earning an Emmy nomination all the more impressive, and each of these nominees participating in today’s Deadline’s Contenders Television: The Nominees Award seasonal event deserves their credit.

The livestreamed presentation begins today at 8 a.m. PT.

This year we have 31 shows from 16 networks and streamers joining us to discuss their creations and what it took to get them on screen. Once again Emmy history is being made: Netflix’s squid game marks the first non-English language series to earn a Best Drama nomination. Will it follow? Parasitefootsteps of the Oscars of 2020 and secure a win?

We have multiple panels that truly exemplify the breadth of small screen entertainment offered this year by musical parody schmigadoon! until Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels, after the vampire comedy by Jemaine Clement What we do in the shade to Jean Smart starrer hacking.

The Limited Series category is especially exciting. While the competition only has the advantage of five awards in their category, as opposed to eight each in Best Drama and Best Comedy, the quality is evident in the nominations. From that group, HBOs The white lotus and Hulus Dopesick, the dropout and Pam & Tommy join us on stage.

There are, of course, plenty of recurring series that will continue to shine throughout the awards season with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Stranger Things and Ted Lasso all of which make an appearance at this year’s event, while in the Outstanding Variety Talk Series category we’ve got you covered with nominees such as Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.

This season also marks the signing of a number of series, with those earning nominations in their final seasons, including AMC’s You better call Saul, also in this year’s Contenders lineup. It’s always sad to see some of our favorite TV shows say goodbye, but new series have won awards like Showtime’s Yellow jackets and Apple TV+s severance paywith new characters and mysteries that will unfold in the coming seasons.

Lizzo scored her first Emmy nomination this year with her competition reality series Lizzo’s watch out for the big grrrls. The global superstar, who serves as the host and executive producer of the Amazon series, is here to tell you all about the show in which a group of plus-sized dancers compete for spots as backup dancers.

So sit back, relax and enjoy another wonderful day from our Contenders Television: The Nominees, which you can follow all day with panel coverage on and on our social channels via #DeadlineContenders. On Monday, we will launch the streaming site that hosts the full panel’s videos.
