NSW government to ‘buy back’ flooded houses: Clennell

The NSW cabinet has agreed to spend half a billion dollars on buying back thousands of properties across the Northern Rivers after the devastating floods that hit the region earlier this year, says Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.

Mr Clennell said the state cabinet is “now waiting for the federal government to top up funding to announce a package”.

“A NSW government source has told me that the package includes buying back flood-prone properties on the North Coast and Northern Rivers, not just Lismore,” Mr Clennell said.

“And the package comes with flooding expected to strike again this summer with another La Nina season on the way.”
