Renewal is the theme of the annual Doors Open Toronto weekend from May 28-29 this year | Things to do

This year’s annual Doors Open Toronto, on tap on the weekend of May 28 and 29, is all about renewal.

The free weekend-long celebration of architecture and public space will feature more than 100 locations for exploration, a talk series, walking tours, and even a virtual feature.

Toronto City Hall and Nathan Phillips Square buzz from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, with exhibits, live music, family-friendly activities, and rare access to the Mayor’s Office, Council Chambers and Memorial Hall. Staff and volunteers are on hand to answer any Doors Open Toronto related questions.

This year’s theme of “renewal”, according to a press release from the city, “touches on the world’s awakening to deep-seated social, cultural and environmental inequalities, injustice and imbalance. Doors Open Toronto 2022 participating sites and programs are guided by their interpretation of renewal.”

Mayor John Tory said in a press release: “This truly unique behind-the-scenes experience provides an opportunity to discover and explore our buildings and vibrant neighborhoods. I encourage everyone, once again, to experience and participate in Toronto’s hidden gems to all the personal activities we want to welcome as a city.”
