‘Ridiculous’ to suggest Morrison had bad intentions with ‘blessed’ comment: Hughes

Liberal Senator Hollie Hughes says it is “just ridiculous” to suggest that Prime Minister Scott Morrison had malicious intent with his “blessed” comment during the Sky News People’s Forum debate.

Morrison said during the debate Wednesday night that he and his wife were “blessed” not to have disabled children.

“I have to be honest… I was watching the debate, it didn’t even dawn on me,” Ms Hughes told Sky News presenter Andrew Bolt.

“I have three children, my middle one has autism. I don’t take any offense. I know what Scott’s intention was, and it was to recognize the additional challenges parents of a child with special needs face.”
