WWE is looking for a new generation of stars through the NXT 2.0 brand, which serves as their internal development area, and former women’s champion Sasha Banks has a number of women she’d like to get into the ring with.
During the promotion’s European tour, the Women’s Tag Team Champions Banks and Naomi answered some questions from the media, with the former naming some of NXT 2.0’s top female talents.
“I have a bit of history with Mandy Rose. She and she can get it anytime. I really like Kayden [Carter] and Kacy [Catanzaro] down there. They have worked very hard. I trained with both of them at D-Von Dudley’s school. I like girls who want to do more,” said Banks.
Mandy Rose and her “Toxic Attraction” faction have been rocking the brand since its inception in August 2021, winning the NXT Women’s Championship two months later.
When Rose was brought to the main roster in 2017, her first feud saw her team up with Sonya Deville and Paige to take on Sasha Banks, Bayley, Mickie James and Alexa Bliss, before flying solo in December 2019.
Banks naming Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro in the same breath as Rose is a great confirmation of their burgeoning talent.
The duo of Carter and Catanzaro competed in the 2021 Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament, beating the duo of Mercedes Martinez and Toni Storm in the quarterfinals before falling to Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez in the semifinals.
Now performing under the ring name Katana Chance, Catanzaro rose to fame in pop culture after stunning performances during her time with American Ninja Warrior.
After retiring in 2017, Catanzaro made the transition to pro wrestling where she has since honed her talent and is quickly becoming a reliable performer alongside her tag team partner in Carter.
Banks didn’t shy away from complimenting the current stars of NXT 2.0 and every female artist who has done the work at the Performance Center.
“I’ve seen them work so hard for so long and would love to have the chance to go there and get tangled up with them,” she added.
Getting Banks to have a one-time feud with one of the women she mentioned will be a win-win for all parties involved.
NXT 2.0 is getting a huge boost in viewership thanks to Banks’ star power, and the likes of Catanzaro and Carter will benefit from being in the ring with a veteran like her.
It remains to be seen whether Banks will push for this setup with WWE’s creative team, but it’s certainly an interesting proposition.
