Solomon Islands-China security deal benefits the government, not the nation in the Pacific

Opposition MP Peter Kenilorea Jr. of the Solomon Islands says the security deal between the Pacific country and China is seen as “not for the good of the country” but as something that Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and his government could benefit from.

“They have agendas to do,” he told Sky News presenter Andrew Bolt.

“A big one for us is the planned extension of the parliament’s lifespan from four to five years … to push those agendas, I think they might need some support to do that.”
