A tropical storm warning is in effect in Miami, Fort Myers and West Palm Beach as South Florida braces for the first storm of the Atlantic hurricane season.
This tropical system is expected to strengthen into Tropical Storm Alex as it heads toward Florida on Friday.
Alex is predicted to land near the west coast of Florida overnight.
The biggest threat from this storm is flash flooding. Rainfall can reach as much as 3 inches per hour from Friday night to Saturday.
Most of South Florida is expected to receive 5 to 10 inches of rain, but some areas may see 10 to 15 inches of rain.
Wind gusts of 40 to 55 mph are also expected.
But this storm should move quickly and leave Florida by Saturday afternoon.
