Streets in Dubai mapped out for driverless car use

Self-driving cars are almost here!

We’ve heard the announcements and plans for self-driving cars in Dubai Streets, but now there’s an official digital map project to prepare the city for it!

As part of the project, Google Maps-style vehicles on the streets were seen as part of the effort.

A “highly accurate digital map”

The goal of the project is to have a “high-precision digital map” that can track the driverless vehicle’s AI computer. This is essentially what it takes to get the car motive without the need for a person behind the wheel.

Authorities said:

The project aims to prepare and design maps according to best standards and international practices. These cards will be used by companies providing specialized solutions for autonomous vehicles, which will be seen as the bulk of Dubai’s transportation in the future.”

Trial period starts in 2023

Dubai’s government aims to start the trial for the first self-driving cars on the road early next year

In addition, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, vice president and ruler of Dubai, has another goal, which is to ensure that 25 percent of journeys will be driverless by 2030.

It will definitely be a whole new world!
