Surfers Brave Hurricane Fiona Waves Off New Jersey Shoreline

Surfers in southern New Jersey enjoyed big waves on Friday, Sept. 23 thanks to Hurricane Fiona, footage shows. Mike Bogad said he shot this video Friday in Ventnor City, south of Atlantic City. The National Weather Service (NWS) had warned of “dangerous rip currents and breaking waves up to 8 feet” and life-threatening storm surges as Fiona moved north. The hurricane struck Bermuda as a Category 3 before strengthening again to a Category 4 over the Atlantic Ocean. It was expected to make landfall in Atlantic Canada later Friday.
