Teen dies after being shot in the chest at Millennium Park – NBC Chicago

A teenager died Saturday night after being shot in the chest in Chicago’s Millennium Park.

According to the Chicago Fire Department, the 16-year-old was shot during a rally in the park.

He was taken to a hospital in the region in critical condition, police said, but later died of his injuries.

There are no further details about the shooting, but police say two people of interest have been detained at this time. Two weapons were also found at the scene.

Large gatherings of teens continue Saturday night in the Loop, with several CTA bus lines having to change their service due to crowds.

According to the agency, the 6 Jackson Park Express and J14 Jeffery Jump buses will be rerouted through the Loop, as will the buses on routes 3, 4, 146, and 147. Route 151 Sheridan buses are also being rerouted due to street blocks in Michigan and Washington near Millennium Park.
