Nearly three decades after the events of the original film, Hocus pocus 2 follows a new generation of high school students who accidentally summon Salem’s first 17th-century troublemakers. Best friends Becca, Cassie and Izzy (played by Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckinghman and Belissa Escobedo respectively) are the trio who accidentally summon the Sanderson siblings and then must stop them from wreaking havoc on the city again. “Lock up your kids!” announces Midler’s elder sister, Winifred. “Yeah, Salem…we’re back!”

In a conversation with Yahoo Entertainment two years ago, The Rose star called the first Hocus pocus”one of the best experiences I’ve ever had,” making the idea of signing up for a sequel a no-brainer. And Midler teased that too Hocus pocus 2 would feature a new variation on the breathtaking sequence from the original film, in which Winifred takes down the house with her rendition of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ standard, “I Put a Spell on You.”

†[He] immortalized the song; I just scratched it,” Midler said at the time, adding that she wasn’t sure which song Winifred would beat this time around. Hocus pocus 2 trailer, however, confirms that she’s going to heat up her pipes again. At the end of the teaser, a Salem resident warmly greets the sisters and says, “I bet you’re looking for the stage.” With a sly grin, Winifred replies, “Always.”

On Twitter, fans are ready to shout Hocus pocus 2 in their lives in September, mainly because it will help to distract from the real dangers that are happening in the world right now.
