This Morning host Josie Gibson has dismissed tabloid reports of alleged “tension” between her co-workers Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.
Earlier this month, the Alison and Dermot took center stage in the posts in the Daily mail by claiming that their differences had caused them to struggle behind the scenes to “get it right”.
The news outlet quoted an alleged “source” as speaking of “on-set bickering and uncomfortable off-air tensions” between the two stars.
While this was immediately rejected by a This Morning spokesperson, Josie has also maintained that the rumors are not true.
†Those two are like brother and sister!” she told New magazine. “I don’t know what’s written, but they really get along. Dermot adores Alison and Alison loves Dermot.’
Josie continued: ‘She bought him a beautiful watch not long ago and they are having dinner at each other’s house.
“You don’t buy people’s watches and don’t go to their house if you don’t like them, do you?”
An ITV representative previously told HuffPost UK: “Despite the challenges of starting their on-screen partnership during a pandemic, Alison and Dermot have developed a close friendship and their chemistry has proved a success in the ratings.
“Since the pandemic ended, the two can now enjoy socializing together after the show and have also enjoyed spending time with each other’s families.”
In her interview with New magazine, Josie admitted that it can be difficult for the This Morning team to socialize outside of working hours: “We’re all so busy. We all message each other but it’s so busy being on This Morning and as a working mom it’s hard to pin everyone down.
“But luckily we see each other at work.”
Alison and Dermot first met 20 years ago, after her time as a roommate on Big Brother came to an end, while hosting the spin-off show Big Brother’s Little Brother.
Prior to their appointment as regular This Morning duo, the pair had hosted a handful of live episodes together as guest hosts.
Already a beloved member of the This Morning family at the time, Alison gained a loyal following thanks to her irreverent A-list interviews with A-list stars like Harrison Ford, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Beyoncé.
Dermot’s previous credits include The X Factor and the National Television Awards, as well as his own long-running BBC Radio 2 slot.
Like Alison, Josie’s TV career took off after participating in Big Brother, with the Bristol star winning the reality show’s final Channel 4 series in 2010.
