(Update) Alabama Dept. Of Correction Says Kastellio Vaughan ‘Denied Medical Assessment And Treatment’ After Surgery In August

Days after photos of Kastellio Vaughan looking emaciated surfaced online, the Alabama Dept. or Correction that he has “repeatedly refused [a] medical assessment and medical treatment.”

A press release contained information about Vaughan’s medical records and was released with his permission.

Records show that the 32-year-old had surgery on August 5, 2022. After the procedure, he decided “to be discharged against medical advice”.

Reports also show that the organization cannot force Vaughan to undergo medical treatment.

Family gets Lee Meritt as their lawyer

If you recall, his family enlisted attorney Lee Meritt to investigate alleged neglect after they shared photos on Facebook of him severely malnourished.

Attorney Merritt issued a press release stating that Kastellio had been transferred from the Elmore Correctional Facility in Elmore County, Alabama, to the Stranton Correctional Facility in Montgomery.

Attorney Merritt sets out his plans to bring his client to court in the press release.

We are also investigating whether Ages of the State of Alabama violated their duty of care to Mr. Vaughan by admitting his medical condition to Spyro to the point reflected in the images now circulating on the Internet.
