CHENANGO COUNTY, NY (WWTI) — A Chenango County man is charged with a felony after allegedly sexually assaulting children multiple times. According to a press release from the New York State Police Department, on April 15, troopers received a report of inappropriate conduct involving 32-year-old James D. Blackman of Afton, New York.
An investigation found that Blackman had repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted two children under the age of 11 in Chenango County. As a result, NYSP arrested Blackman on April 28.
Charged:
- Two counts of predatory sexual assault on a child (felony).
- Four counts of the first-degree sexual act (felony).
- Two counts of first-degree sexual assault (felony).
- Two counts of endangering the welfare of a child (crime).
Blackman was arraigned and sent back to the Chenango County Jail. State police reminded residents to report incidents, regardless of their role, if they fear a child is being abused.
