How Jennette McCurdy’s iCarly role exacerbated the eating disorder?

When iCarly ended in 2012, she moved on to a role in Sam & Katin which she played opposite Ariana Grande. This was a disturbing experience for Jennette, who felt that Ariana was receiving preferential treatment. According to Jennette, the pop star was often allowed to miss work, forcing Jennette to work more hours on set. It was so frustrating, Jennette was relieved when the show was canceled after just one season.

At this point, Jennette was tired of acting, as she was consumed with the “frustration and anger” that had accumulated since she began auditioning, at her mother’s urging, at age six. However, Jennette’s mom wouldn’t let her stop acting, so she sorted it out by drinking, taking drugs, and binging.

Jennette said she didn’t know who else to turn, so her battle happened “in the sad silence of my own demise,” adding that she didn’t know who else to turn. “My mother was very clear,” she continued. “This is something to be thankful for. We’ve been working on this all our lives.”
