Steam Deck can now run 1200+ verified games, up from 350 at launch

TL;DR: Valve’s Steam Deck now has over 1,200 games that have been verified to run smoothly. This number has more than tripled since the launch of the portable console. There are also another 1,200 titles that are playable, but may have some issues.

Boiling Steam has been tracking the number of games that can be run on the Steam Deck. Since the launch of the handheld PC on February 25, the numbers show that Steam has verified playable games and made tweaks to the operating system to ensure more titles run smoothly on the machine.

At release, the Steam Deck only praised about 350 games that were guaranteed to run from day one. About another 300 were considered playable, but with issues – many just because they were designed for keyboard and mouse input. It’s not a terrible start, but with thousands of games on Steam, the Steam Deck has barely scratched the surface of its namesake’s library.

Today, about 1,289 games run smoothly on the handheld PC, and another 1,169 can be played with issues. That’s significant progress, and the number will only grow over time as Steam tests more titles and makes further tweaks to the deck’s software.

But the center of gravity of the effort doesn’t fall squarely on Valve’s shoulders. Many playable games only require controller support to move them to the verified column, which is up to the developers. That said, the future looks pretty bright so far for the on-the-go gaming PC.
