The LAPD on Tuesday shot and killed a man they say brandished a gun while barricading himself at the Hotel Rosslyn in downtown LA.
The first call from the Rosslyn hotel was a medical emergency, but when the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) ambulance arrived, they saw the man with a gun and called police.
The man had barricaded himself in a 5th-floor hotel room as LAPD SWAT officers responded to the call, saying they were trying “de-escalation techniques.”

While “less lethal” weapons were initially used, a gunfight eventually broke out, leading to the suspect being shot at the hotel.
“SWAT agents used fewer fatalities and an agent involved in the shooting occurred,” according to LAPD said in a statement. “The suspect was shot and arrested.”
LAFD at the scene pronounced the man dead and his firearm was recovered by police officers.
No other injuries or deaths were reported in the incident.
