School and Walmart evacuated in Caledon as police warn people to avoid area

A Caledon high school and a nearby Walmart have been evacuated due to a police investigation.

Ontario Provincial Police have released few details about the investigation so far, but are urging the public to avoid Bramalea Road and Mayfield Road as a result of the “ongoing investigation.”

They say Mayfield Secondary School has been evacuated because of the investigation, as well as the Walmart across the street from the school.

Parents are instructed to collect their children from James Grieve Public School by entering the area from the north on Old School Road.

Several roads in the area have also been closed.

“The public can expect a greater police presence. Police are asking people to avoid the area until advised otherwise,” Acting Sgt. Rob Simpson said in a video updated on Twitter.
