Wild lights at Taronga Zoo

Explore Taronga Zoo after dark as part of Vivid Sydney 2022.

Vivid is a cultural explosion of wild events from May 27 to June 18 — so wild it’s even taking over the Taronga Zoo.

Wild Lights is an illuminated nighttime walk that takes place every Wednesday through Sunday, and the Monday of the long weekend offers visitors the rare chance to experience the zoo at night. Visitors can expect to see more than 70 installations and light sculptures dedicated to the many creatures that call the zoo home.

Upon arrival at Taronga Zoo, guests are led on a journey via animal-inspired lanterns as they begin the illuminated nighttime walk. See never-before-seen access and inclusion-inspired installations, along with light sculptures and installations, all connecting nature and conservation. Come hungry – there are food trucks on site, as well as a dessert bar, toasties and bars serving winter-inspired cocktails.

For those seeking an elevated experience, there is a limited number of Sky Pass tickets to give you panoramic views of the Vivid Light Walk and Sydney Harbour. You can even add a stay to the Wildlife Retreat in Taronga, where you get access to custom animal lanterns and performances at the N’Gurra Lounge, an exclusive area for guests of the Wildlife Retreat, which overlooks Sydney’s iridescent harbour. The package includes VIP access to Vivid, Sky Pass tickets, an in-room gift, and a special Vivid cocktail for $109 per person in addition to the room cost.

Wild Lights is a ticketed and inclusive event for all ages. Guests are advised to take the ferry from Circular Quay and see the vibrant lights of the sea on the way in.
